April 2009

Dear SWAT and K-9 operators,

A very good friend of mine, Sergeant Bill Lewis II (Retired) from the Oxnard (CA) Police Department has made available a new web site to help circulate important information (good and bad) regarding SWAT operations and K-9 deployments.  The web site is www.tacticaldebriefs.com

TacticalDebriefs.com will attempt to provide timely debriefs of critical and significant incidents to law enforcement personnel with lessons learned related to planned or spontaneous tactical operations, high risk patrol encounters, K9 deployments, and specialty unit operations.  The success of this site will be determined and dependent upon its submissions and visits to view the respective debriefs.

Bill retired from the Oxnard (CA) Police Department after almost 28 years of service with over 25 years assigned to SWAT.   He was a K9 handler for 4 years and K9 supervisor for 8 years.  He is currently a regional representative for the California Association of Tactical Officers (CATO) and a certifying official for the National Police Canine Association (NPCA).

Although they are still awaiting a few debriefs to be initially submitted, K9 handlers, tactical team members and other law enforcement personnel can go to the web site now and start the registration process.  Once each registration is confirmed, registered members will be able to view the debriefs when they are posted as well as the other sections of the site currently accessible.

Please share this information with other K9 handlers as well as any tactical team members and patrol personnel you think might be interested.  If you have any questions please contact Bill at sgtblewis2@aol.com

Thanks for your support
